As the 2025–2026 NFL playoffs heat up, fans are debating which teams will advance to the Super Bowl. Local student and football fan Matthew Cappelluti shared his predictions and insights, including which teams he thinks have the best chance to win, and what makes a successful playoff team.
Every year, the NFL playoffs bring excitement, close match-ups, and surprises. This season’s playoff field includes teams like the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots, and Denver Broncos. Fans weigh statistics, team performance, and star players when making their predictions.
For Matthew, predicting the playoffs isn’t just about numbers. He considers team chemistry, momentum, and the ability to perform under pressure when selecting his top teams.
When asked which team he thinks will win the playoffs, Matthew said, “I think the Buffalo Bills will win the playoffs because Josh Allen is playing at a high level, and they’ve already shown they can win tough games on the road.”
Matthew explained that his confidence in the Bills comes from their strong offense, experienced coaching staff, and a defense capable of making big plays. He believes this combination gives them an advantage in the postseason, especially in close games.
On how momentum and team chemistry affect playoff outcomes, Matthew said, “Momentum is huge. Teams that play well together and stay confident in close games usually perform better than teams with just talent on paper.”
Matthew also keeps an eye on potential underdog teams. He mentioned the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers as squads that could surprise if they perform at their peak. He explained that injuries, unexpected performances, and late-game heroics could all shift the playoff picture, making the tournament unpredictable and exciting.
Matthew highlighted the match-up between the Bills and Patriots as the game he’s most excited to watch, citing strong quarterbacks and strategic defenses on both sides. He also said that balancing stats, past match-ups, and personal intuition helps him make his predictions, but anything can happen in the playoffs.
Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of the postseason, Matthew said, “Absolutely. Injuries or unexpected big performances from underdog teams like the Bears or Rams could change the whole playoff picture. That’s what makes this season so exciting.”
