The New York Knicks are NBA champions! After an incredible season, the Knicks defeated the Spurs in five games to win the 2026 NBA Championship. The team finished the series with a 94-90 win in game 5, giving The Knicks its first NBA title in more than 50 years. Fans across New York and around the country celebrated as the final buzzer sounded.
The Knicks were led all season by their talented rooster, strong defense and teamwork. Captain Jalen Brunson played a big role in the team’s success throughout the playoffs. After an outstanding postseason performance, Brunson was named NBA Finals MVP. His leadership, scoring and amazing plays helped guide the Knicks to the championship.
Students in Emerson were excited to see the Knicks finally reach the top.
“I have been waiting my whole life to see the Knicks win a championship, ” said Senior Daniel Galeazza.
Daniel added, “Watching them celebrate will be something I will never forget.”
Senior Tony Rinkiewicz said, “The Knicks never gave up all season.”
He added, “They played hard every game and they deserve to be the NBA Champions.”
The Knicks’ championship win will be remembered for years to come. After years of waiting, Knicks fans finally have a title to celebrate. With Brunson earning Finals MVP honors and the team bring home the trophy, this season will go down as one of the greatest in Knicks history.
