The 2023-2024 Emerson Boys Soccer Team fell short last year with the record ending 14-7. The team had very talented players that year that could have won the state championship last year but unfortunately, due to injuries, the team couldn’t have all its top players in the Quarterfinal Round of the NJSIAA Tournament and lost to Park Ridge 2-1. During the summer, the team worked so hard, motivated to win states this year and bring the first state championship to Emerson.
So far the Emerson Boys Soccer team has started off the 2024-25 season with a bang! The record so far this season is 8-0-1 and 5-0 in their league. Some of these wins include a big 3-2 win over Waldwick, 1-0 win against Wood-Ridge, 3-0 win against Glen Rock and a hard fought 2-1 win over Rutherford. At the moment, the team is first in its Division and is expected to win the league with the consistency the players have been showing. The team is full of very talented players all over the field including Leo Mandile, Michael Graf, Paul Coombes, Matthew Sabatella and many others.
When asked for his thoughts on the team, Shea Neuschwanter said, “I think we’re looking really good right now. We are undefeated, we have beaten some very good teams that we haven’t normally beaten in the past. I think this has been our best year in a long time.”
Others were also asked for their thoughts.
Paul Coombes says, “I have one word and one word only for the Emerson soccer team. ‘Heart’.”
Leo Mandile states, “I think we are a very talented team, and with our record it shows that.”
Nathan Leuck also says, “The boys’ team this year is doing very well. We have come a long way throughout the years, and it’s finally showing. We are now 8-0 and on a hot streak, and I’m excited to see what this team comes to accomplish in the rest of the season.”
In all, it’s safe to say that the members of the Emerson Boys Soccer Team are in great shape and have high chances of winning this year’s state championship.
