Quarantine Blues? You May Need a Little Hakuna Matata.

Here it is. This is the very  Disney animated movie that always gathers families and friends towards the living room T.V.   This iconic Disney movie features a young lion cub, Simba and his adventures to save his father’s kingdom.  This movie, also known as the original 1994 The Lion King movie is the basis for this review. This movie can be viewed on many platforms, such as Disney Plus and HBO. Considering the fears the pandemic has put on all of us, The Lion King, which stresses “no worries” may be what we all need.

The movie begins with  a young and curious lion cub named Simba who is born on the well-known “Pride Rock”. As he grows older, Simba always finds himself roaming around the kingdom and exploring new lands with his close friend Nala and his bird-like guardian Zazu. After battling a situation with Simba’s Uncle Scar, Simba winds up leaving the kingdom because he feels that he is the reason for the devastating situation. After leaving the kingdom, Simba finds himself in a jungle with two new friends, plus the baboon who honored him on Pride Rock when he was born. With the aid of his close friends, Simba comes to believe in himself and understands what he needs to do to save the animal kingdom from Scar.

Given the current position that we are all in right now, I feel the Emerson community should consider  watching or rewatching this beautiful movie. I feel that people will understand the fact that worrying and feeling down will only make the current situation worse after watching this inspiring Disney movie. As another example, it is extremely important for individuals in today’s society to understand the importance of never giving up. Although today’s situation is rough, all people including the Emerson community will eventually overcome these challenging times. It is extremely important that  people don’t forget the value of remaining strong and brave. We’re all in this together!

Although written with children in mind,  The Lion King  consists of many important messages we could all benefit from hearing, such as not  worrying about things in life so much. Within the movie, Timon and Pumbaa sang a catchy and inspiring song named  “Hakuna Matata”. “It means no worries”. Another selling point with this film is the happy ending. Despite all of the problems and situations that Simba had gone through in his life, Simba still manages to keep his head up high and eventually is able to defeat his evil Uncle Scar. Although it was tough, Simba eventually restores  his kingdom and grants peace amongst all of the animals. Such bravery and determination lead Simba to become a successful leader.

This movie offers so much for people of all ages and would honestly be a shame if people did not look upon this movie as the perfect quarantine cure. With all of the details included within this Disney movie, I  rate this movie ten stars out of ten stars. This movie has really inspired me, and I feel it would do the same for others.
