Students at EHS are celebrating Spirit Week from April 6-10, dressing up each day, competing for points, and building excitement leading up to the pep rally where the winning grade earns the CAVO Cup.
Spirit Week is one of the most anticipated times of the school year, giving students a chance to show off their creativity and school pride. Each day has a different theme – CAVO colors, USA, pink, pajamas, and class colors – with seniors wearing black to represent our grade. Students earn points by participating, and those points are added up by teachers throughout the week.
The competition brings all grades together in a fun but intense battle for the CAVO Cup, which is awarded at the Spring Pep Rally on Friday, celebrating the final countdown for spring break. As the week goes on, the excitement builds, with more students joining in and going all out to support their class.
“Spirit Weeks takes a lot of planning, but it’s all worth it when you see everyone getting involved and excited for the pep rally,” said Mikaela Tucker, a member of the students council who helps run the event.
Participation is key, and many students plan their outfits in advance to make sure they contribute points for their grade. Hallways are filled with colors and school spirit, creating an energetic atmosphere throughout the building.
“It makes the pep rally even more exciting because you actually feel like you helped your class win,” Tucker also stated.
Teachers and staff also get involved, encouraging participation and helping keep track of points. By the end of the week, the competition becomes more intense as classes try to take the lead before the final announcement. The pep rally serves as the grand finale, where all the energy from the week comes together.
By the time Friday arrives, the entire school is energized, and the announcement of the CAVO Cup winner brings the week of competition and school spirit to an exciting close.
