Now that winter is here, and the snow is also here, everything feels like a setback. The cold weather makes everyone feel very lazy and makes them not want to do anything. School sessions have been delayed and/or cancelled, which makes people less motivated to move forward. Many people have also been staying indoors and inactive, which does not set anyone on a productive track at all.
For me, personally, this time of year, schoolwork usually starts to pick up in core subjects. More work is assigned, responsibilities outside of school grow, and additional work picks up. This weather also does not help because of the feeling it gives everyone, which is the instinct to just relax and not bother, which is the opposite of what actually needs to happen and needs to be done. The Winter Blues are real, but they’re temporary.
John Piccirillo admitted, “This time of year gets stressful, but the hard work must continue.”
He’s right.
Senior year is very important, and many people may say that putting in effort does not matter, but it most certainly does. The third marking period is a super important time to put your best foot forward and try as hard as you can. For us seniors submitting mid-year or end-of-year transcripts, this is a very important time to shine and finish out our senior year with great grades.
But the cold weather and the snow have been very frequent recently, which is inconvenient and often draining for many people.
Senior Joanna Vigna said, “I can’t wait till the cold weather is gone so I can get back on track.”
She added, “The weather should start to improve very soon, which should give many people motivation to do more and to do better. I plan to succeed, ask for help when needed, and finish out this senior year strong.”
C’mon, Cavos! We can do this!
