The Emerson High School tennis team celebrated its seniors, Michael DeOrio (first singles) and Danilo Radulovic (second singles), on May 11, 2026, at the school’s tennis courts. 

Before matches began, tennis coach Christopher Schama honored both seniors with individual speeches, recognizing them for their commitment, memories, years of participation, and overall appreciation. 

The Cavos were up against Lodi and had a fantastic 4-1 victory. Both seniors showed strong performances as their matches went on. DeOrio won his first set 6-3, then 7-5 in the second. After his match, Michael DeOrio said, “I’d like to thank my mom for setting up and supporting me throughout my tennis career. I appreciate my teammates and coaches for encouraging me and making my senior year very memorable.”

Radulovic scores similarly; in the first set, he won 6-2 and 7-5 in the second. 

It would not have been a win without the dedication of the other team members. Freshman Yuhanun Ceylan defeated his opponent, winning both sets 6-0 at third singles. At first doubles, freshman Daksh Jaitly and Dominic Jose secured their first set 6-3 and an intense tie breaker in the second set 7-6. tb:(7-2)

Although Sophomore Mustafa Masood and freshman Jacob Aying (second doubles) lost their close tiebreaker, their teammates brought support and encouragement throughout their match. 

As the matches concluded, the team celebrated its victory with a wide variety of desserts and gifts. DeOrio and Radulovic will be greatly missed in the Emerson tennis program!
