“The first thing I think of when I hear St. Patrick’s Day is the color green, shamrocks, dancing, and leprechauns,” said Vanessa Lopez.

“The past four years, me and my friends went to parades and hung out all day together,” added Lopez.

In Chicago, the Chicago River has a world-famous tradition where they dye the river green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and honor Chicago’s Irish heritage. This river dyeing occurs early in the morning, whereas later in the afternoon, follows Chicago’s most significant and iconic annual event – their downtown parade. Celebrating with friends and families makes the day even more memorable while joining worldwide traditions to add fun.
Whether it’s wearing green, spotting shamrocks, or joining a parade, St. Patrick’s Day continues to bring people together each March for a day full of fun, tradition, and a little bit of luck.
