A Night to Test Knowledge

Key Club kicked off last week with their third annual Trivia Night, and it was a huge success. Participants were asked various questions to test their knowledge, and food and drinks were available also.  Co-President Stephanie Seretis describes Trivia Night “as a night that the Key Club holds with the hopes of getting the school and community together to help a good cause. It is a good opportunity to give back to those in need that may not be as fortunate as we are, especially during the holidays.” The event was $10, and all proceeds went to The New Jersey Federation of Food Banks.

There were more than 10 teams that participated, and all were asked a series of questions about sports, entertainment, science, and history spanning four rounds. Some questions were relatively easy, such as “who is the current President” or “what is the most popular song of 2019”. However, some were a lot more difficult to answer, such as remembering what quote a specific movie is from or naming the year war was fought in. The teams were as follows: The Silly Squids, Sawah Patch Kidz, Brainy Biebs, Smarty Moms, Fabulous Five, The Young Bucks, Salt and Peppah, Tik Tok Stars, Fantastic Four, Lunachicks, The Cool Moms, Brainiacs, Seventh Graders, Rather Be On Cash Cab and Team Johanson.

In the end, Salt and Peppah came out on top with a victory of fifty-two points, very close to the Young Bucks. But what led to their success? Team member Grace Yeh believed that it was because “our team was very well rounded. Every person on the team knew a lot about certain subjects so it came in handy.” In addition to bragging rights, they were awarded a $25 gift card to Nellys along with free movie tickets to the Westwood movie theatre.

With the holidays around the corner, Trivia Night was extremely important due to where the proceeds are going and who they are helping. It is important to always give back to those less fortunate, especially during this time, and little donations such as $10 can go a long way to help someone in need.
