The fourth marking period was always something I looked forward to, but now that I’m a senior, it is definitely hard to face. I’m so used to reaching the fourth marking period and being excited to leave school. But now that I’m a senior, it’s definitely bittersweet. Especially with senioritis, all assignments feel less important, and more of the deadlines don’t feel as strict as they used to be, as in other marking periods.
Many people took school way more seriously at the beginning of the year than they do now.
One of my friends, Lindsey Delarosa, stated, “I am just so ready to have a fresh start and get out of high school”.
Right?
We’re ready for something more, and more is certainly heading our way.
Now that it is the fourth (and final) marking period, there are many events that are coming up for us as seniors. We have prom, graduation, and a variety of different trips and ceremonies that will start filling up our calendars. This is all a major part of our lives and something that we will never forget.
The routine of going to school and having multiple marking periods in a year is something that will disappear very shortly. Things are going to change sooner than later, and it is very interesting to see what is going to happen.
Being a senior in the fourth marking period can definitely be stressful. Maybe it’s the deadlines, the uncertainty, or just those mixed feelings. Many people have different opinions, such as another one of my classmates, Mackenzie McGuiness, who is just not ready to leave.
She stated, “I am not ready to graduate”.
She’s not alone.
We are still in high school, but it also feels like we are about to enter something new. It feels very rushed, and like we are looking forward, but really, we are still in the moment.
The fourth marking period, as a senior, is realizing that your high school chapter is coming to a close, and you are stepping into the real world for college and beyond. You’re leaving the comfort of the place you know for something new.
Ready or not, here we come.
