George Harrison was an English musician and is known for his role as the lead guitarist in the Beatles. His bandmates, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, were first in a folk group called The Quarrymen, which later transformed into the Beatles. In February 1958, he was 14 years old and was accepted to join the group. His audition took place on a double-decker bus in Liverpool, and he played his guitar for John Lennon and Paul McCartney. 

The Beatles were on top of the world, rising to fame from 1963 to 1970, and are still popular to this day! George was known as the “quiet one” in the group and contributed to their smashing hits. 

He created songs everyone has heard of—on the Beatles’ album, Abbey Road, he wrote “Here Comes the Sun,” which has about 1.7 billion streams on Spotify, and “Something,” which has over 478 million streams.

While still in the band, he pitched song ideas that are now on All Things Must Pass, but was often disregarded by his bandmates. Shortly after the Beatles broke up in 1970, he released his triple album All Things Must Pass on November 27, 1970, in the United States and the UK. 

George Harrison’s album topped charts, exploring themes of Hinduism, folk, gospel, and country. He collaborated with well-known artists such as Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, and many more. Some of the album’s most-streamed songs include “My Sweet Lord” with 712 million streams on Spotify and “What Is Life”, which became a top-10 hit in the US and a #3 hit in Germany in 1971. 

All Things Must Pass was extremely successful for George, and it demonstrated to musicians and fans around the world how he could succeed without being in the Beatles. It highlighted his artistic independence, as he produced an album that people still listen to today.
