On Monday, February 23, a winter storm brought heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures to Emerson, New Jersey, covering roads, sidewalks, and driveways, and forcing students and families to stay inside and spend hours shoveling.
The heavy snow made it hard to get around town and changed a lot of people’s plans for the day. Some students enjoyed staying inside, while others weren’t thrilled about having to shovel and deal with the cold.
Talking about his opinion on the weather, Matthew Cappelluti said, “I think the snow looks nice, but it can be annoying because it makes everything harder to do.”
One of the biggest challenges was shoveling. Many families spent hours clearing their driveways and sidewalks so they could safely leave their houses.
Explaining how long it took to shovel, Cappelluti said, “It took me about two and a half hours to shovel my driveway and sidewalk.”
Because of the cold and slippery conditions, lots of students stayed indoors. Most spent their time doing homework, watching TV, or just relaxing.
Sharing what he did during the storm, Cappelluti said, “I mostly stayed inside, finished my homework, and relaxed since it was too cold and slippery to go out.”
“Even though the snow can be annoying, it’s still nice to have a break and just chill inside,” Cappelluti said.
