Created by ITV Studios, Love Island is a highly popular show that features a group of singles who spend their time in a villa on a mission to find love. The first-ever show came out in 2015 and takes place in any tropical area. In order to stay on the show, the singles must couple up and may be influenced by the viewers who have the opportunity to vote. Love Island can be watched on multiple platforms, but mainly on Peacock and Hulu.
There are new singles every season who must couple up to avoid being dumped from the island. Through each season of Love Island, there are challenges and games the members of the island play to test their compatibility. Then there are the new arrivals, also known as “Bombshells”, who tend to shake things up in the villa, testing relationships even more. There is no set script; these islanders tend to run at their own pace with unexpected drama and plot twists.
Love Island tends to keep many viewers watching with all o
f the drama, twists, and mainly everything that is posted on social media that relates to the show itself. When new singles enter the villa, this tends to weaken the preexisting relationships and make the viewers even more hooked.
Other dating shows may take coupling more seriously, but Love Island is not as serious, intending to entertain rather than make a larger deal out of it.
Overall, Love Island is a super fun show to watch, and I can never stop watching it. I would give it ⅘ stars – depending on the season and the level of drama. It is definitely worth giving it a watch for entertainment purposes, but not for a realistic glimpse of love.
