Over the summer, Emerson, New Jersey, residents were introduced to a new chain restaurant: Wayback Burgers, which replaced Boston Market. Through the large glass windows, TV screens display a handful of menu options. When entering, the restaurant provides a modern and spacious atmosphere. Customers have the option to either pay up front or on the electronic screens. There are plenty of seats to be filled, and they even provide outdoor seating!
Wayback isn’t just a burger joint — they’ve also combined with Molte Pizza. There are three different pizza styles to choose from and various unique ways to top them off:
- The Tavern pizza is thin and square-cut. Options include regular cheese, spinach and tomatoes, four cheeses (mozzarella, provolone, cheddar, and gorgonzola), etc.
- The New York pizza is your classic foldable slice. Options include “The Rocket” (mozzarella, prosciutto, and arugula), chicken bacon ranch, leat Lovers, etc.
- The Detroit pizza is a thick-cut square pie with a caramelized crust. Options include “The Drunken Chicken”, broccoli rabe, Detroit cheese, pepperoni, and many more!

When asked about the most ordered pizza item, Allie DeOrio stated, “The New York small cheese pizza is the most ordered pizza item. It’s a good thing to try, especially at a new place! The Detroit style is popular, but people generally go for the New York style more often.”
DeOrio has been working at Wayback for quite some time, helping with expo (managing orders and making sure everything in the kitchen is correct) and being a cashier. She explained, “I decided to work at Wayback Burgers because I wanted to be a part of a new and exciting place in Emerson.”
Peighton Miller added, “I work the front register, assisting people in ordering their food and keeping the front area nice and clean. I also bring out food to people who order to stay in. At night, I clean the dining area by wiping down the tables and restocking items.”
Both employees try their very best to be helpful and keep customers satisfied, even if there is a mix-up in orders or a long wait.
DeOrio commented, “I provide good customer service by checking in with customers and making sure they’re having a satisfying experience. I also recommend items that may improve their overall experience, like a drink to go along with their meal.”
Miller noted, “ I provide good service to customers by asking them if they need help when ordering by themselves or when they are eating, checking up on them, and asking if their food is good.”
Good food coupled with good service helps create a truly satisfying experience!
