After months of excited anticipation, Mr.Compagnone and Mrs.Osso are officially new parents! The beloved teachers welcomed their beautiful babies, bringing joy not only to their families, but also to the students and staff eager to celebrate their big news.
After welcoming their new baby girl Savannah, Mr.Compagnone has shared how life at home has changed in big and meaningful ways. Now a father of two, he’s learning how to juggle parenting, teaching, and everything in between. While the sleepless nights and buddy days with his son Hudson can be tiring, he says the joy of raising both a son and daughter is incredibly rewarding.
The journey to naming their daughter was meaningful in itself. Compagnone shared, “My wife and I have always liked more creative names since we both have families where the names were used over and over again.”
He added, “We had always thought we had a name figured out, but then I had thought of the name Savannah and all of a sudden it became a name we loved.”
Mrs.Osso had also told us that she had named her daughter Olivia Taylor. Choosing a name that felt unique and special to them made welcoming their daughter even more exciting.
With the new baby at home, things have gotten a lot busier. “ A lot less sleep and a lot more keeping our son Hudson entertained,” he said, showing how much effort he’s putting into making sure both kids feel cared for.
Since Hudson was used to having all their attention it’s been a big adjustment. Compagnone explained, “Now we basically take turns looking after each of our children. There’s a lot less down time to do the things we need to do on our own.” Bouncing their time between two young kids means less rest and more teamwork but he says the rewards are worth it.
“The most rewarding part is knowing that we get the chance to raise a daughter,” he shared. “Obviously already having a son as our first born, we would have been delighted for Hudson to have a brother, but there’s something extra knowing we get the chance to raise a son and now a daughter.”
Getting to experience both sides of parenting feels like a special gift, and Mr.Compagnone is honored to have that privilege.
Still, managing both family life and work is a challenge many teachers have to face. “I find myself leaving school and sports as soon as I can to get home to be with my family and help my wife care for the kids,” he said. He admits both teaching and parenting are exhausting, but adds, “It is definitely easier having been through it once already raising our son.”
In fact, his work as a teacher has helped him become a better parent. “Getting a chance to teach and care for kids who may have needed the extra support to help prepare me for my first child,” he said. He believes that teaching has taught him patience and how to stay calm when things get hard. “You entirely learn to let things roll off your back a bit more in the classroom because at the end of the day making sure kids have what they need… is the most important thing.”
He hopes his children learn something from his example. “I definitely hope my children can learn from me that teaching is something you do because it’s a part of who you are,” he said. Even though schools, kids, and the world change, he will leave the need to support and care for others the same.
Returning to work was easy, though. “To a degree it felt like I hadn’t missed any time,” he said, “ but on the other hand I spent most of the day missing being home with the family.” While the work days went by smoothly, he felt more emotionally drained. “I was constantly checking in with my wife and asking for pictures of the baby,” he admitted. Still, he said being back at work felt good. “It keeps me in my routine and provides a little change from being home all day.”
Though parenting two kids while working full-time can be tough, this teacher’s story shows the beauty in both chaos and love. their patients, partnership, and a strong support system, he’s making it work— and that’s something other families can definitely relate to.
As if one baby wasn’t exciting enough, both Miss Osso and Mr.Compagnone became parents on the same day– at the same hospital on and on the same floor! It’s a shared memory neither family will forget. We’re so excited to welcome two new babies into the Cavo family! Congrats to Mr.Compagnone and Mrs. Osso —your growing families bring so much joy to our school!
