The New York Knicks’ NBA Playoffs run came to an end in the East Conference Finals on May 31st with a 4-2 series loss to the Indiana Pacers. This was the Knicks’ longest post-season run in 25 years.
In the post season, the Knicks, in the first round, beat the Detroit Pistons in six games. The Knicks had a strong series with leaders Jalen Brunson and Karl Anthony Towns. In the second round, the Knicks faced the last year’s defending champions, the Boston Celtics. The Knicks beat last year’s champs in six games. Brunson and the team continued to play great, winning their first Conference Finals appearance since 2000.
In the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks faced the Indiana Pacers. In game six, the Pacers won 125-108 with Pacers player Pascal Siakam winning the MVP award. Both Brunson and Towns played strong, but the lack of defense and too many turnovers cost the game for the Knicks.
Tony Rinkiewicz and John Kennedy had something to say about the NY Knicks in the Playoffs.
When Tony Rinkiewicz was asked, “What do you think happened to the Knicks in the Playoffs against the Pacers?” He responded by saying, “Brunson played well, but Coach Thibodeau didn’t coach the team good in the Playoffs.” Tony also said, “The Knicks lacked toughness in the Playoff games against the Pacers.”
When John Kennedy was asked, “What do the Knicks need to do better in the Playoffs next year?” He responded by saying, “The Knicks need to work on improving both three-point shooting on offense and rebounding on defense.” John also said, “Hopefully, on the off-season, they strengthen their bench and pick up some key players.”
Even though the Knicks’ season has ended in a disappointment for both players and the fans, we look ahead to the 2025-2026 season.
