As the school year comes to an end, I reflect upon all the great times I’ve had. Who can forget when the seniors won the Cavo Cup, or any of the fun projects I’ve done in classes – like making a game in English and hacking a computer in Cyber Security? As I said, the great times… Well, those and the frustrating times… For instance, why are so many people so bad at parking?
For those who aren’t aware, there is an Instagram account that only posts photos of cars that are parked badly. Additionally, all of the photos are taken in the school’s parking lot. If you don’t understand the significance of this, I’d like to inform you that the account doesn’t re-post cases, so each post is a different example of an Emerson student who has parked badly.
The account doesn’t post just any bad parking job, though. It chooses which parking jobs it posts carefully to select the ones that are truly awful. With 32 parking jobs already photographed and posted, it begs the question, how many times did someone park terribly and not get posted?
Did you notice the photo? The car was on the curb in a way where one side of the car was higher off the ground than the other. I mean the car was angled, who parks like that? Apparently, somebody does.
Now some may feel that the Instagram is mean or unfair, but others believe it just shares what we are all seeing. Is it age? Inexperience? Contagious?
Mrs. Martinucci shared, “I’ve seen some wild parking jobs out and about. A few years ago a woman actually parked her car on mine while I was inside a supermarket. She went the wrong way down a one-way aisle, and drove her car up on my car’s driver’s side. The policeman laughed and shook his head as he filled out the incident report.”
Is parking really that hard?
While many positive things have happened this year, there’s one thing we can’t forget. This year’s seniors (at least some of them) can’t park!
