When you wake up in the morning and don’t know whether you should wear shorts and a t-shirt or a hoodie with sweatpants, you know it’s time for spring sports. March 10th was the first day of the 2025 Spring Track season.
Many athletes returning to Spring Track came straight from Winter Track, so they’ve been jumping, hurdling, vaulting, throwing, and running for months. But that isn’t the case for everyone. With a team of 60+ athletes, both boys and girls as young as freshmen and as old as seniors come together to compete in their selected events.
Senior Andrew Pasdar has done Spring Track all four years of high school. He says what he likes most about track is the positive community. He says, “It allows people that never would have really interacted with each other to bond and become friends”.
The reason why the track team consists of and connects so many people is because of its diversity. In the sport, there are several different events so most athletes can find at least one that they are interested in. Whether someone likes to sprint, run long distances, jump, or throw, track has something suitable for them.
Coach Ledgerwood (Ledge) has been head coach for 16 years. He says “I’m most excited to work with all of our athletes to improve throughout the season. Teaching the skills necessary for success in each event and then seeing when it clicks with each athlete is one of my favorite parts of coaching. Spending time with the team both at practice and meets is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching, and the relationships developed are very special to me.” He also adds, “I love coaching, and I look forward to another successful season for the Cavo Track & Field program.”
Good luck to the 2025 Spring Track team!
