Have you heard the news? The valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2025 have officially been announced!
Last Friday was a PLG (Professional Learning Group) Day, and while students were rushing to the nearest exit, faculty, staff, and the guests of honors’ family members were gathering excitedly in the Media Center for the big reveal.
It was hard to stay still as we waited for the arrival of the two students, but our positive energy filled every corner of the room as we watched the doors.
Did they know? Had they been told? How had someone convinced them that they needed to stay later than the rest of the student body on a half day? What if somebody had given it away?
The tension mounted.
One teacher joked, “Should we yell ‘SURPRISE?'” (We didn’t, but the students were taken by surprise nonetheless.)
Another dabbed her eyes and said Barbara Hatton (a former teacher and EHS legend) would have been so proud to see this moment come to fruition.
More of us grew misty-eyed.
People dug out their cell phones, and jockeyed for position so they could take that first photo. The families waited patiently, but you could see the pride and eagerness in their stances.
Led by Mr. Hutchinson, Sophie Nisonoff and Logan Clavell entered, and the room exploded into cheers and applause.
You see, we love sharing in our students’ joy. It’s impossible not to smile when we see their smiles.
We understand that there are a lot of moving parts to something like this. Late nights and long days don’t go unnoticed. These titles don’t just happen.
We see you.
Congratulations to Valedictorian Sophie Nisonoff, and Salutatorian Logan Clavell! Your tenacity and dedication are admirable and have been recognized. Here’s to your future endeavors! We wish you the very best!
