Super Bowl LIX was played on Sunday, February 9th. The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, securing their second Super Bowl title. The final score was 22-40. Every football fan had huge expectations for the Chiefs (as they had won the last two Super Bowls), and believed that they would destroy the Eagles, but all they wanted for the Eagles was to upset the Chiefs and destroy their 3-peat dream.

The game started off pretty slowly with only one touchdown run by Eagles Quarterback, Jalen Hurts. In the second quarter, Jake Elliot made a 48- yard field goal, Patrick Mahomes threw an interception to Cooper DeJean and made a 38-yard return touchdown, making the score 17-0. Then Jalen Hurts threw a 46-yard touchdown to A.J. Brown, making the score 24-0 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Jake Elliot made a 29-yard field goal, making the score 27-0. Three minutes later, Jalen Hurts threw a bomb of a throw to DeVonta Smith to making it a 46-yard touchdown. The score was now 34-0 and the Chiefs were getting blown out. In the last 30 seconds of the third quarter, Patrick Mahomes threw a 24-yard touchdown to Xavier Worthy.

In the 4th quarter, the Eagles started to calm down since they knew they had secured the win. They made a 48-yard field goal, and then a 50-yard field goal. In the last two minutes, DeAndre Hopkins scored a 7-yard pass touchdown. Then came a 50-yard touchdown from Xavier Worthy. The game ended 40-22 Eagles. Everyone was shocked from the result, but happy at the same time.

The Philadelphia Eagles ended their record 18-3, and the Kansas City Chiefs 17-3. Patrick Mahomes threw for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and threw two interceptions. Jalen Hurts threw for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Patrick Mahomes had 25 rushing yards and Jalen Hurts had 72 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Eagles now have two Super Bowl trophies, ruining the Chiefs’ 3-peat run and winning their 5th Super Bowl.`
