The students of Emerson have been offered opportunities to play a fun, competitive volleyball game with their peers. This event happens in the gymnasium every Friday. At the beginning of the year, each class Google Classroom posted a form so that students have access to create teams.
The ultimate winner of this entertaining tournament will receive a point for their CAVO Cup. This makes the competition intensified as teams are eager to win the points for their grade. Mrs. Graff and Mr. Mansfield are in the gym while this is happening to ref the game, and Mr. Schama determines whether a ball is in or out on close calls. Various guest teachers serve as scorekeepers.
Every high school volleyball game is thirty minutes during their activity period; the first team to rally 15 points wins! The tournament winners will play an elite group of teachers during the Spring Pep Rally! Many students are very excited to compete for the glory.
The first games contained the sophomores and juniors, leading the juniors to get an easy win. The second game was two groups of sophomores playing against each other. Many people attended this event to watch and support their friends. This was an exciting way to start off the tournament and get other people rowdy.
Jenna Messick said, “I decided to be in this tournament because I wanted to create a team and to be a part of something.”
Brielle Schumeyer stated, “My team has competed and unfortunately, we lost. The best part was having fun with my friends.”
It is great when people want to be involved in a fun school event like this because it builds a sense of community, encourages teamwork, and makes school more enjoyable! Events like these can create long-lasting memories and help everyone feel more connected.
