Juan Soto started his soon to be Hall of Fame career on The Washington Nationals, and immediately became noticed as a rising star. Soto plated a total of five seasons with The Nationals, and was the 2019 champion along with The Nationals. Each one of those years, he put up huge numbers that ultimately turned him into the superstar we know today. Soto’s been filling the stat sheet in every aspect every year, and The Nationals drafted a superstar.
Juan Soto was a Yankee sensation, an all star, and a Gold Glove Award finalist. He was the missing piece The Yankees needed, and the reason they were able to make it to The World Series. Soto made a huge impact for the team and immediately became a team favorite. With the obvious shine of Aaron Judge also on The Yankees, Soto just proved that he is on his level and the duo became amazing. Soto finished 4th in home runs in the majors, putting up 41 blasts on the year.
Along with that, Soto finished with 109 runs batted in which put him 16th in the majors. Soto, being known for his discipline at the plate, finished with 129 walks on the year which – by far – put him first in the majors. His being known as an amazing post-season player carried his fantastic year into the postseason. With a huge 3 run home run in the bottom of the 10th in game 5 in the ALCs (American League Championship), it brought The Yankees to a familiar place back to The World Series.
Soto is loved by Yankee fans, and he clearly enjoys his time playing in New York. He stated in an interview that he is open to any of the 30 MLB teams, and would be willing to sign with any program.
However, Steve Cohen and The Mets are a huge threat to The Yankees resigning Soto. Cohen has stated that no matter what, he is willing to top the highest offer given to Soto by 50 million dollars. Consider the amazing 2024 season The Mets have had, coming a series win away from a World Series appearance, and losing 2 games to 4 to the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Yankees lost 1 game to 4 in The World Series. This money and team could easily attract Soto to signing with The Mets.
Currently, the largest contract in baseball is Shohei Ohtani with a 700 million dollar, ten-year contract. Analysts say they expect the Yankees to offer Soto a contract around ten years, for 600 million dollars, meaning Cohen would be approaching the 700 million mark. If the Yankees offer him 650 million or more, Soto can easily become the highest-paid player in baseball.
With these ideas in mind, it is almost definite that Juan Soto will either resign with the Yankees (regardless of the contracts offered to him, because of his love and connection with the Bronx), or go all in for the money, and bring his talent to Queens.
