What a great way to start the day!
The ninth graders were invited to spend a morning together on October 18th from 6:30-8:00 am to watch the sunrise. Their English teacher, Ms. Jennifer Emmet, brought bagels for everyone who attended the event. A random act of kindness or a teachable moment? Both.
The ninth graders have recently learned and read about Transcendentalism. Transcendentalism is about the innate goodness of humanity and the effects related to being in nature. There are many reasons why people should spend time outside in nature – with or without bagels.
Two students from ninth grade pointed out their opinion on how nature is effective and important.
Nicole Blau said, “I think it is important to go outside because a lot of people, especially my generation, mainly stay inside to stay in bed and play video games or do something else. This was very refreshing, not just for me but for my classmates as well.”
Eunice Garcia added,“It makes a person more active in the day and improves mental health.”
Go outside! It can affect your mindset in such different and positive ways.
