On October 10th, 2024, the students of Mr. Deo’s Forensics class proudly displayed their simulated physical crime scene projects to interested students and staff.
The students were directed to use their forensics knowledge to simulate a crime scene inside of the classroom. With that being their only instruction, they were able to use their creativity freely. Each group established their own crime storyline and physical display to bring it to life. The class spent weeks discussing and planning their projects, leaving no idea unattainable. These presentations allow the students to prove their understanding of the course, while remaining playful and hands-on.
Overall, the presentations were a success. The classroom was bustling with students of all ages. Many intrigued visitors stopped to learn more about each crime scene and how it ties into forensic science. With the use of fake blood and drawings to emphasize realism, it is evident how much time and effort was put into each project.
Yaneira Rijo shares her experience of the presentation, “I enjoyed seeing the creativity of others displayed in a crime scene.”
By incorporating the students’ imagination into their presentations, they were able to demonstrate their knowledge while also appealing to those unfamiliar with forensic science.
