Across the nation, pink is emphasized to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The color pink is used to identify breast cancer, and it is honored in the month of October.
It reminds people to get an examination, be grateful for those around them who may be suffering from breast cancer, and honor the breast cancer survivors in their lives.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women. However, that does not mean men cannot get it. Cavo Cancer Crushers club leader Mrs. Rehak says, “It’s important for people to know that men also suffer from breast cancer so it’s good [for all people] to get examinations.”
Surviving breast cancer is an enormous challenge. No matter how severe the diagnosis.
Breast cancer survivor, Danielle Bohannon, advises anyone who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Bohannon says, “Don’t freak out. Assure your family you guys will get through it. Depending on the diagnosis, we all have different paths. Take the path that feels right for you. Have faith that this is a bump in the road or maybe a reminder to be grateful for every day. Most importantly, ensure your loved ones know how you feel about them.”
Overall, it is important to recognize the significance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It also shows how much bringing attention to this disease during October can mean to people struggling and survivors. Individuals must understand that they are not alone in their battles with breast cancer.
