Is our school getting a D&D club?
Senior Zephania Rothstein is currently in the process of making a D&D club for Emerson Jr-Sr High School students.
D&D, short for Dungeons and Dragons, is a fun collaborative story-based game. In D&D one person is a Dungeon Master (DM for short) who writes the story. All the other people are players navigating through the story. People create their own characters using certain guidelines and then go on adventures throughout the story as these characters. Even though the DM writes the campaign, players still have a massive effect on how the story plays out, and can alter the course of how events unfold through anything from killing important NPCs (Non-Player Character), traveling on routes not planned by the DM, and so much more.
Players’ characters can be any range of fantastical beings from gnome barbarians to elven wizards. (You can even be a human fighter if you’re boring.) If this club gets established, then you could experience fantasy worlds each time the club meets, continuing the story each time as you level up your characters and explore new areas. Additionally, there’s no wrong way to play D&D so you wouldn’t need to worry if you’ve never played before. Since D&D is a collaborative game, you might find yourself making new friends while you discover new interests.
When asked what he hopes for in a D&D club, Zephania stated, “I’m just hoping for a club where kids can be themselves and have a good time playing D&D. I remember my first time playing D&D, I had so much fun and now I want to share the joy”. If all this sounds great, find Zephania Rothstein and sign up.
As a new club, a minimum of 10 people need to sign up for the club to be made. As of writing this article, only 7 more people’s signatures are needed (the signatures are just your name). Zephania Rothstein is also available if you want more information about what being in the club would be like.
