The Spanish Club is welcoming and looking for new club members. Señora Greenberg is the advisor this year, and she is running it on her own for the first time. The first club meeting was held on September 26th, from 11:00-11:30 am, and while it has already taken place, students are encouraged to check out the club and join at any point during the year.
Spanish Club consists of both Spanish and non-Spanish speaking members, and promotes Latino culture through its events such as movie nights, holiday celebrations, and – of course – the delicious food that is available at the events. Señora Greenberg has already started preparing a Zumba event, and will continue to prepare for others.
While Señora Greenberg takes on immense responsibility in hosting the club, she finds that one of the great parts of the club is her students taking on this responsibility as well. She says, “It’s fun because I have all of my students that help me run it, and they’re taking pride in their work, taking pride in leadership.”
Madeline Kim, a sophomore, notes the reason she’s joined the club is due to her love for the language. She adds that the Spanish Club’s events are, “super fun, like the Spanish-Italian club dance was really fun.”
Spanish Club is a place where people can come together and enjoy the beauty of the language and culture. The club is best described by Señora Greenberg who says that it is, “A safe place [for students] to express their feelings and speak the language.”
