The Italian Club’s Long-Awaited Eataly Trip

Ava Sassi and Ryan Mulligan

Back in November, we interviewed Mrs. Pacciani asking her what her future plans for the Italian club were going to be. She told us that she planned many fundraisers to help fund a trip to Eataly, an Italian marketplace with a variety of restaurants, food and beverage counters, a bakery, retail items, and a cooking school.

Mrs. Pacciani said, “We have a fundraiser on December 3rd at Panera Bread in Woodcliff Lake. It’s our hope this will help fund a trip to Eataly!”

Jump ahead to present time; Italian club went on the trip! It was on Friday, May 12th. Students started off by travelling by train to the Oculus at the World Trade Center, looking at the 9/11 Memorial, and enjoying the views of the city.

Then, we went inside and walked around Eataly, and looked at all of the foods, gifts, and utensils there. Skyler Choinski, a junior, also went on this trip and gave her opinion about the experience.

“I thought that Eataly trip was really fun. I liked going on the train because we haven’t taken the train for a field trip in the past. Seeing the 9/11 Memorial was pretty cool too because it was my first time seeing it.”

She added, “My favorite part of the trip was going to Eataly because there were cool displays to see. I got pizza, an iced coffee, and gelato, and I thought the pizza and gelato tasted pretty good. I enjoyed the trip and hope to go back during Memorial Day Weekend.”

I agree on every part of this! This trip could not compare to any other field trips we have been on, and I really enjoyed it! We were given so much freedom to look around at different food stands and at the different treats on the shelves, and it was great to hear, read, and even try speaking a little Italian!

I got a tote bag and I bought a bag of gnocchi. I also got the same pizza as Skyler did, and we sat at seats with a view of the city.

I would rate this day a 10/10 and I would love to go to Eataly again!
