Miley Cyrus released her newest album Endless Summer Vacation on March 10, 2023, which is her 8th studio album and first since 2020. 

The album became popular after the release of the hit single “Flowers”on January 13, 2023. “Flowers” was written with her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in mind. She released the song on his birthday when it was 12 a.m. Australian time because he was born in Australia. 

The music video was filmed at the house where he was accused of cheating on her during the marriage and the routine she is seen doing is one of his most well-known workout routines. 

Inspiration for the song came from Bruno Mars’ song “When I Was Your Man”, which was Miley and Liam’s wedding song. Miley’s song is an answer to the promises that Bruno Mars makes in his song. 

The album includes a spread of songs that incorporate different genres of music. “Wildcard” brings in the country element with a side of rock, “Jaded” represents the pent-up feelings leftover from a breakup, and “Violet Chemistry” embodies the feeling of meeting someone for the first time and having an instant connection. 

The album as a whole has been an homage to the end of Cyrus’ relationship with Liam Hemsworth and finding love again. The struggles of coming back from a grueling breakup are showcased through the lyrics of her songs and each song portrays a different emotion that people go through. 

“Wildcard” brings back the possibility of getting into a relationship and being accepted for who you are as a person. The country element of the song brings listeners back to the roots of Miley when she first started in the music industry. 

There are incorporations of the different styles that Cyrus has explored over her career. At the beginning of her career, Miley’s music included more pop essence, and now her music fits more into the rock genre. 

The range of her singing voice has grown throughout her career. As she evolved as a singer, her voice became its own and is now more defined as being specific to her. The songs now consist of more emotion because her natural vocal range is raspier which she uses to her advantage. 

Overall, Miley Cyrus has come a long way since her days starring in the TV show “Hannah Montana, movies such as The Last Song, and her early career as a singer. Her voice has evolved significantly and instead of trying to fit the pop narrative as she did early on, she is embracing her natural vocal range. Her breakup with her ex has only assisted in making her more confident in her voice and resulting in her career becoming even more successful.
