Emerson Hosts The NJIC League Meet

Over two days, on May 4th and 5th, EHS hosted the annual NJIC League Track and Field Meet. Over 35 teams made their way to the EHS track for this meet that spanned over two days. Below are the highlights of the meet, some of the greatest achievements, and food rankings of the meet.

EHS had some great accomplishments with 19 athletes getting their personal record. I guess you can call it “Home Track Advantage”, right? Congrats to those listed below for breaking their personal records.

  • Kaajal Thakkar – 100m High Hurdles
  • Keira McGuire – 400m Hurdles
  • Nick D’Agostino – 3200m
  • Nathaniel Falcon – Long Jump
  • Jeremy Lachman – 400m Hurdles
  • Eddie Schels – Shot Put
  • Alex Talmazan – 800m, 1600m
  • Mia Bonner – 100m High Hurdles
  • Samantha Robinson – Discus

Next, a shout-out to all of the event winners, who are NJIC Patriot Division League Champions. These athletes will be honored for first team all league for 2022!

  • Kaitlyn Legaspi – Pole Vault
  • Erin Karaway – Discus
  • Carli Sorvino – 100m, 200m
  • Ryan Balsam – Pole Vault
  • Thomas Gibbard – 400m Hurdles, High Jump
  • Khalid Itani – 800m, 1600m, 3200m
  • Nate Storz – 110m High Hurdles

And finally to highlight our Emerson athletes, congratulations to the following for breaking into the EHS top-5 all time!

  • Emily Butler’s jump of 32’9″ made her the #5 best Triple Jumper in EHS school history!
  • Carli Sorvino’s jump of 15’11” made her the #3 best Long Jumper in EHS school history!
  • Nate Storz’s time of 15.40 made him the #3 best High Hurdler in EHS school history!

 

All of these individual performances+more have resulted in both the Boys and Girls becoming league champions in the same year for the first time in school history. The girls are back-to-back champions and the boys have won for the first time in ten years!
