Rams Win the Superbowl!

Blue and yellow confetti rained over SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as the LA Rams took the ring home against the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday. This year’s Super Bowl was an interesting match-up between two underdog teams that many people didn’t see going to the Super Bowl.

This season the Cincinnati Bengals were on fire! They were 10-7 and the number one team in the AFC North. Their famous quarterback, Joe Burrow, is number one in their offensive line having 842 passing yards, alongside Joe Mixon with 190 rushing yards, and Ja’Marr Chase with 279 receiving yards.

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Rams had a great season and were 13-5 this season and were the number one team in the NFC West. Their quarterback, Matthew Stafford had a total of 1,188 passing yards this season, alongside with his running back, Cam Akers with a total of 172 rushing yards. The Rams have one of the most popular wide receivers in the NFL, Cooper Kupp, who has 478 receiving yards, making this Super Bowl match-up much more exciting.

The game started off with the Bengals winning the coin toss and decided to defer, leaving the Rams with first possession.

The Rams quickly scored in the first quarter with a beautiful pass by Matt Stafford to a leaping Odell Beckham Jr.. Rams 7 Bengals 0.

With 28 seconds left in the quarter, Bengals star kicker Evan McPherson kicked a field goal to get some points on the board for his team. Rams 7 Bengals 3.

The Rams had no plan to stop and scored a second touchdown at the beginning of the second quarter. Matt Stafford hit Cooper Kupp wide open in the back of the end-zone and then they went for a fake PAT attempt that was intercepted. Rams 13 Bengals 3.

The Bengals weren’t going to go down that easy. They scored a touchdown on a trick play as Joe Mixon threw the ball to Tee Higgins with 5 minutes left in the first half. Rams 13 Bengals 10.

The second quarter ended as some viewers began to realize that the game was not that competitive and how these two teams felt and the halftime show went underway. Dr Dre. and Snoop Dogg started off the performance with “The Next Episode” which fans seemed to love. They continued their performance by singing “California Love” as 50 Cent made a surprise appearance, upside down, singing his popular song “In Da Club” as the fans in the stadium went wild. Just as you thought the show couldn’t get any better, Mary J. Blige began to sing her hit song “Family Affair” followed by “No More Drama”. Then, Kendrick Lamar made his appearance coming out of boxes as he began to sing “M.a.a.D City” and “Alright”. Fans began to go crazy as they realized Eminem came out and began to sing “Forgot About Dre” with Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar. Eminem went solo singing one of his most popular songs, “Lose Yourself”. Lastly, all of the artists came together for the final song, “Still Dre” and ended their performance with a bang.

With just 12 seconds into the third quarter, Joe Burrow threw a beautiful 75 yard throw to Tee Higgins for their second touchdown of the game. Rams 13 Bengals 17.

The Bengals decide not to stop there and they make an interception just 10 seconds later. Evan McPheerson came out again and easily drilled a 38 yard field goal. Rams 13 Bengals 20.

The Rams weren’t going to let the Bengals get away that easily. Matt Gay of the Rams nailed a field goal from the 41 yard line, adding 3 more points for his team. Rams 16 Bengals 20.

The fourth quarter started off really quiet. The score had stayed the same the whole time until there was 1:25 left in the game. Matt Stafford floats one into Kupp who makes the catch of Eli Apple to take the lead. Rams 23 Bengals 20.

And that’s the game! Stafford and Kupp came in clutch with that last touchdown of the game giving them the victory! The Rams paraded onto the field with confetti falling on to their heads. All of the players hugged each other to celebrate their huge win.

Cooper Kupp had the game of his life which earned him the Super Bowl MVP after his eight catch, 92 yard, two touchdown performance against the Bengals.

And that’s a wrap! Although neither of this year’s Super Bowl teams were favorites going in, they did not disappoint fans on the field. Congratulations to the LA Rams on their well deserved win!
