Covid-19 has played a huge part in sports in the past year. The 68- team tournament will be revealed on selection Sunday, March 14th, at 6 P.M. The games will be played  in two separate arenas: Lucas Oil Stadium and Bankers Life FieldHouse in the Indianapolis area. The NCAA revealed that there will only be 25% capacity at all of the March Madness venues. 

Some people may ask what happens if someone on the team tests positive for Covid-19. That team would get eliminated for the  whole tournament, and the team they were supposed to play gets a bye round to play in the next round of games. 

There will be one game being played at one time, even though there are two courts inside Lucas Oil Stadium. The reasoning for that is so they could hold the right capacity for fans. It is important to make sure that some fans are allowed to watch the games and enjoy the experience of being at one of the games.

The biggest difference between this year and previous years of March Madness is definitely the fans. The fans bring the intensity to the game and each team has a different type of energy when they have fans cheering for them. Especially when it comes to the last final couple of games, the players really need as many fans cheering them on to play hard. Every year of March Madness there are upsets in almost every round and most of them are because they have enough energy from the fans cheering them on. 

For the first time since 1976, Duke and Kentucky are not in the tournament due to Covid-19 cases and that is huge because Duke and Kentucky are two of the biggest teams in College basketball in general. The two teams draw so much attention, due to the talent both those teams bring. 

March Madness this year is completely different from any past year anyone has seen. The intensity of each game will not be the same due to fans. Also, Duke and Kentucky are not in the tournament which is huge because those teams are the top programs in the country. This year’s March Madness tournament is going to be completely different than past years due to Covid-19 and it will be really interesting to see who will win this year’s tournament.
