With some people getting Disney+ just to be able to watch The Mandalorian, it makes sense that its second season has been so outstanding. In my opinion, this season of the show is even better than the last. The first season and second seasons of The Mandalorian, both have eight episodes each, and every single one will keep you on the edge of your seat. Every episode packs so much into it, viewers can miss key details just by looking away for one second.

For the remainder of the article, I am going to shortly summarize and review each available episode of the show that is out now. I have been watching them the day they come out since I am such a fan of the show. As of the time of writing this, the final episode of Season 2 is not out yet. There will be major spoilers for the show after this point, so if you have not seen the show and plan to, do not read ahead.

The first episode of Season 2 is called “The Marshal,” and involves the Mandalorian and The Child going to a town on Tatooine to try and find another Mandalorian in order to help bring The Child back to his home with his kind. Soon thereafter, the Mandalorian meets Cobb Vanth, a marshal who is willing to give him his armor if he is able to defeat the krayt dragon in the desert, which he eventually does. At the end of the episode, a person can be seen, whose identity is revealed later. I thought this was a great episode with lots of action, which makes sense since it is the premiere.

The second episode of Season 2 is called “The Passenger,” and involves the Mandalorian helping a frog lady deliver her eggs to her husband on another planet. If he succeeds, he will gain more information about more Mandalorians. Unfortunately, as they are flying over an icy planet on the run from some other pilots, they crash-land, and everything goes haywire.

The Mandalorian has to figure out how to keep everyone safe, and also escape from the spider-like creatures on the planet. The day is saved when the pilots that were chasing him come in and defeat most of the creatures, allowing for them to escape. I thought that this episode was pretty good. The Mandalorian has much better episodes than this one, but it was still enjoyable nonetheless.

The third episode of Season 2 is called “The Heiress,” and involves the Mandalorian finding other Mandalorians on another planet, and gaining new information. The Mandalorian drops off the frog lady with her eggs to her husband. As a seemingly-friendly fisherman tries to take the Mandalorian and The Child to other Mandalorians, they are ambushed by people trying to steal The Child.

Right before The Mandalorian drowns and The Child is stolen, three other Mandalorians swoop in and save them. They go on an adventure with the new Mandalorians, and learn that in order to gain more information about The Child, they will need to see Ahsoka Tano on another planet. I thought this episode was interesting because it contained a lot of action and suspense.

The fourth episode of Season 2 is called “The Siege,” and involves the Mandalorian meeting up with some old friends and allies. The Mandalorian lands on the planet, Nevarro, for his ship to get some repairs and joins forces with Cara Dune and Greef Karga, (two main characters from the first season) to take out an Imperial base.

They successfully do so, but before learning about how Moff Gideon (the main villain from Season 1 and also Season 2) wants to conduct experiments on The Child. Thankfully, they escape before the base explodes. The Mandalorian then heads off, unknowingly, his ship has been tagged, and can now be tracked by the Empire. I thought this episode was pretty good, it was a little slow at some times, but I enjoyed seeing the old characters back again.

The fifth episode of Season 2 is called “The Jedi,” and involves the Mandalorian meeting Ahsoka Tano, as well as learning more about The Child (including his name). The Mandalorian finally arrives on the planet hoping to meet Ahsoka Tano, and encounters the magistrate of the planet, who offers to give the Mandalorian a spear of pure beskar, (which is very valuable, his armor is made out of it) if he can kill Ahsoka. He then goes out with The Child hoping to find Ahsoka, to which he eventually does.

Instead of killing her, she almost kills him, but she is intrigued by The Child, using her abilities to learn about him. The Child’s real name is Grogu, and he has trained in the Force before, which is why he is occasionally able to use those powers. She also tells him that he can take Grogu to a planet called Tython in order for him to learn more about himself. I thought this episode was great. I really enjoyed seeing the action scenes with The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, and even learning about Grogu’s origin was interesting.

The sixth episode of Season 2 is called “The Tragedy,” and involves the Mandalorian going to the planet of Tython, and also meeting the person from the end of the first episode. The Mandalorian arrives on Tython, and Grogu enters a zen-like state, where he is protected by a barrier that the Mandalorian can not go through. As he is on the planet, the person arrives who is revealed to be Boba Fett, (a character from the original Star Wars movies). Boba tells the Mandalorian that he will keep Grogu safe (as his ship was tracked, there are enemies coming) if he gives him the armor that the marshal, Cobb Vanth, previously gave him.

He agrees, and they fight off the swarm of Stormtroopers that invade the planet. However, the episode is not called “The Tragedy” for no reason, Moff Gideon blows up, utterly destroying, the Razor Crest (the Mandalorian’s ship). To make matters even worse, some of his minions steal Grogu (as he has finished meditating) before the Mandalorian or Boba Fett can save him. Overall, at this point, I think this is the best episode of The Mandalorian’s Season 2. I am not sure if I can say ever, but this is definitely the best of Season 2 for how action-packed and exciting it is.

Lastly, at the point of writing this article, the final episode that is out is the second to last. The seventh episode of Season 2 is called “The Believer,” and involves the Mandalorian teaming up with Migs Mayfeld to get to a secret Imperial base on a planet. Migs Mayfeld was a character that appeared in Season 1’s, “The Prisoner,” and was imprisoned until he was freed to help out on this mission. From when Migs was in the Empire, he remembered the whereabouts of the base, and is helping out the Mandalorian by taking him there to get the coordinates on Moff Gideon’s ship so that he can rescue Grogu. The Mandalorian and Migs Mayfeld board a cargo ship carrying a valuable yet explosive ore to the base.

When they get there, the Mandalorian is able to get to the machine that contains the coordinates. Shockingly, he breaks his Mandalorian Creed by taking off his helmet to use the machine. The Mandalorian Creed states that no Mandalorian shall never remove their helmet in front of any person, but, the situation was dire, so he had to.

The Mandalorian escapes and plans to come for Moff Gideon and save Grogu in the upcoming season finale. I thought this episode was also great, on-par with “The Tragedy,” but that episode was just a little bit better. I liked this episode in particular for its story, and also the suspense of not knowing what is going to happen next.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian is just as good as the first, if not better. If you have Disney+, I would highly recommend you check it out, even if you are not a fan of Star Wars in general, there will be some aspect of the show that you can enjoy. Whether it is the action, the storytelling, the music, the cinematography- there are so many parts of the show that make it so enjoyable and entertaining. The Mandalorian’s Season 2 is definitely worth watching.
