The 2020 World Series has come to a close as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Tampa Bay Rays in a tight series on October 27.

Both teams built up their strategies throughout the whole season to make it to the World Series. After a close competition, with the series tied at 3-3, the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled through with a 4-2 victory.

The Rays took the American League Division in a close series with the Houston Astros. After being up in the series 3-1, the Astros came back with two consecutive wins to tie the series. The Rays, however, pulled through in the final game and won the American League series.

The Dodgers had fallen behind in the National League Division series with the Atlanta Braves with three wins and the Dodgers only at one. Despite all odds, they won the next three consecutive games and won the National League series.

In Game 1 of the World Series, the Dodgers had defeated the Rays in an 8-3 victory at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Pitchers Clayton Kershaw and Tyler Glasnow battled it out on the mound with some great pitches.

Some clutch hits from the Dodgers helped get them the victory, such as star player Cody Bellinger’s 107.8 mph two run home run to put the team on the board. Mookie Betts also helped to bring the Dodger’s victory with his incredible work in the field, while also stealing two bases and blasting a home run.

Game 2 told a different story as the Tampa Bay Rays won 6-4. Pitcher Blake Snell of the Tampa Bay Rays had shut out the Dodgers for 4 innings, but they suddenly hit two home runs in the fifth. The Rays came back however and won the game, making the series 1-1.

Games 3,4, and 5 were all close games and both teams really battled it out on the field.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 3 with a 6-2 victory over the Rays. Justin Turner and Max Muncy came in clutch, each with two hits. Walker Buehler took the mound for the Dodgers, pitching six innings and only giving up one run.

The Tampa Bay Rays tied the series in Game 4 with a close 8-7 victory against the Dodgers. Randy Arozarena was the star of the night with three hits and one RBI. Ryan Yarbrough and the Rays bullpen was able to keep the Dodgers with less runs. With the help from the batters and the pitchers, the Rays were able to tie this series and still have a chance in winning the World Series.

Game 5 was a close pitcher’s battle with Clayton Kershaw and Tyler Glasnow on the mound for the second time in this series. The Dodgers, however, gained four runs in the game and was able to outscore the Rays, giving the Dodgers a 3-2 lead in the series.

With the Dodgers at a 3-2 lead, Game 6 was the chance for them to win the whole World Series. Blake Snell from the Tampa Bay Rays and Tony Gonsolin from the Los Angeles Dodgers started on the mound and battled it out. Snell pitched five innings, giving up one earned run. Gonsolin pitched two innings, giving up one earned run – the only one of the game.

The Dodgers went with a bullpen strategy during this game and it seemed to have paid off. With only one run scored from the Tampa Bay Rays, this gave the Dodgers an advantage.

Mookie Betts and Corey Seager both brought in one run each, giving the Dodgers a lead. The Rays were not able to come back and the Dodgers ended up winning the game 3-1.

The team celebrated on the field and Dodgers’ shortstop Corey Seager was named MVP after being the unanimous choice for the award

This is the Los Angeles Dodgers’ first World Series win since 1988, and it was well earned after losing in 2017 and 2018 against the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox amid the cheating rumors.

After the end of a short sixty game season, the Dodgers were finally able to come through and win the 2020 World Series with their distinguished lineup and bullpen.
