The military has many options for a career for individuals to pursue and live out. My favorite option and the avenue I personally am going to do is college Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). According to Today’s Military, ROTC is a program offered by over 1,700 colleges and universities nationwide that prepares young adults to become officers in any branch of the U.S Military. This is in exchange for a free paid college education and a guaranteed post-college service in the military post graduation. Each service branch of the military has its own take on ROTC programs.

For each branch’s ROTC, they all work differently. For example, Army ROTC prepares the trainees for the Army and it helps them attain the certain requirements needed to be in the Army. Upon graduation of Army ROTC, you are commissioned as an Officer in the Army. Every branch of the military has its own separate ROTC.

I think this is the best option for everyone interested in the military. This is because of the preparation and training that comes along with the education the college or university provides. It also gives you more time to prepare and train, rather than just enlisting straight to a service branch. Furthermore, you can get a feel for that specific branch and the way things work before deploying.

I myself am interested in joining either the Navy, Marine, or Army ROTC program at the college I attend. However, in order for me to do this, I need to attend a college that offers this. Being in the military has been a lifelong dream and goal of mine. I have been forever in love with the military and I can’t wait for the future to both get an education and serve my country.
