Student Sign In

Brandon Czaplicki

Students now have to sign into the bathroom at Emerson Junior-Senior High School and the teachers have to wait there with a computer for the students to sign in. One of the reasons for this rule is so that teachers and administrators know where students are at all times, and so that the school can keep students safe. Additionally, some students have been caught up in the juuling epidemic, and using the bathroom as a place to do it, so the school is hoping this new policy will help stop this trend. I asked an EJSHS teacher what they thought about the new policy below:

Do you think singing in the bathroom is a good idea or a bad idea?

“I think that it is a good idea for students to sign into the bathroom. It’s important to know where students are for safety reasons, and this way teachers can keep track of where their students are during class.”

When I asked two different EJSHS students their thoughts, this is what they said:

Do you feel comfortable signing into the bathroom?

“It’s not a big deal but I don’t like signing in and out of the bathroom”.

Do you feel comfortable signing into the bathroom?

“Yes, I feel comfortable enough because I can still go whenever I need to go.”

My opinion is that signing into the bathroom makes sure that you are not fooling around in the bathroom. Maybe Mr. Hutchinson will see the improvement of kids going to the bathroom for the right reasons and we won’t need it in the future. Some students might think that it is a stupid rule and don’t like the idea that you have to sign into the bathroom, but students not doing what they were supposed to do in the first place is the reason we have it.
