Outer Banks S3 – Stream it or Skip it?

The long awaited release for Season 3 of Outer Banks is here! With the blockbuster hit debuting in April 2020, the new season has everyone sitting on the edge of their seats!

In the Netflix series Outer Banks, we follow an adventurous character, John B. (Chase Stokes), who works with his friends known as the “Pogues”: Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), JJ (Rudy Pankow), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant),  to try and find his father who went missing looking for the lost treasure of El Dorado.

Fast forward to where we are now, the Pogues are stranded on an island they’ve named “Poguelandia” for around a month. Their mission is to get the heck off of that island, and get back on track to find John B’s father known as Big John.

As many days go by, the Pogues find their hope, a plane in the distance. They rush to catch the plane’s attention, setting up fires, screaming and waving, and they do it. Now the rule is trust no one – especially when there are so many questions that come to mind.  Why did the plane turn around so quickly to save these kids? Had someone sent it? Or was it a genuine nice guy?

The Pogues discover that everything had been set up, someone had been sent to kidnap them, more like a person going after the same mission. You can not catch a break with these next couple of episodes.  There’s jumping out of planes, breaking into mansions, and countless near-death experiences.

In the final two episodes, you kind of have everything you need. We’ve all been waiting for closure, whether it comes to family, friend groups, couples, and if they’ve even found the treasure. This season gives it all. The question now is, is the story lineup going too far?

The show ends with information on each individual on their (healthier) lives and their career paths, but ends with a twist. Netflix has already come to announce the renewal of Season 4, and some are saying it’s a hit waiting to happen.

I asked Daniella Machinski, a student who has watched the previous seasons and already finished the newly-aired season, what she thought about the series. She replied, “I think that it should be renewed for another season. I love the show, I really loved how they left you on a cliff hanger AGAIN! It’s truly one of my favorite shows.”

The time to introduce this new plot couldn’t come at a better time. So will the crew take on this next mission? Or will there be more obstacles the Pogues can’t get over? We will never know until season 4 hits the screens!
