The UFC fight this past weekend blew up on the internet, with multiple fights happening that Saturday night. Usman vs Masvidal really brought back the feeling of a regular UFC fight, and it brought back the hype for sports. Fans were allowed back into the stadium at full capacity and it was a beautiful sight to see things finally slowly going back to normal in the world. It was a totally different environment when you have a whole stadium cheering for or cheering against you. 

The fight before the main event was outstanding. Anthony Smith and Jimmy Crute went against each other in a grueling competition. Anthony Smith had 51 fights under his belt, but even he  might be a little surprised by the nature of the victory he recorded Saturday night. Crute fell down suddenly from a kick from Smith. This kick completely destroyed Smith’s leg and on live television, you could see Smith’s leg go completely backwards and he could no longer fight in that competition. It was an insane fight to watch and it was crazy to watch it live. 

Jorge Masvidal has been in the game for a very long time and he has had great experiences and success in the UFC. He went up against a tough opponent in Kamaru Usman, who is also a very skilled and experienced UFC fighter. Jorge Masvidal has been a professional since 2003, and he is mainly known for getting immediately back up after being tossed to the ground. After a tough loss on Saturday, viewers could really tell both fighters put all of their effort into this fight, it went down to the wire at the end of the match. 

Kamaru Usman did not surprise many people from knocking out Jorge Masdvial. Usman has been in the game just as long as Jorge Masvial, and he has had a tremendous career. 

Jorge Masvidal, after the match, praises Usman for knocking him out during the fight. According to MMA Mania, Masvidal said this about the fight,  “I look at it, and I’m like ‘Wow, perfect timing,’” Masvidal said (via MMAJunkie). “That misleading – I thought he was going in for a shot, and when I realized it wasn’t a shot, it was too late. I was throwing my check left hook, but it was already too late. I read the information wrong, so he sold it to me beautifully, and that’s why he got those results. At that moment right there, I am a fan because I love the sport so much, and it was just beautiful technique.” 

The Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman fight lived up to the hype as everyone wished it did. It was great to see the fans were allowed back into the stadium and you could tell the difference; that the environment was so much better than the past year without fans.
