Have you noticed something strange about the hallways? Something is missing, right? The furniture around EHS has been removed. Rumors started to circulate around the school but last Monday an explanation was given.

On February 4, 2019, Mr. Ponchak spoke at the Junior High class meeting and discussed the situation with the furniture. He explained that it was taken away because the fire inspectors believed it to be a fire hazard, stating that the material was hazardous and that the furniture blocked the hallways and exits, preventing a quick exit in the event of a fire.

One EHS student, Anayeli Garcia, spoke out about her opinions on the situation.

“I don’t believe it blocks the hallway. Maybe positioning it differently would have more space in the hall,” Garcia said.

EHS students have been sitting on the floors after the removal, and many were not happy. Several student even thought the furniture was one of the greatest things that this school has ever done. They believed that it was a great way to socialize with others while also being comfortable.

“It was a good idea to have that furniture. It was a way for students to spend time,” Ana added.
