Katelin Quinones is a junior at Emerson JSHS who is currently playing for Emerson’s varsity soccer team. Katelin had been playing the sport for 12 years now and has loved every second of it. She plays in left forward position when out on the field.

Quinones started playing soccer in kindergarten and fell in love with the game. Her love for the sport has grown alongside her skills and precision.

“I was pretty good and never wanted to play anything else; the rush of scoring during an important game was unlike anything else,” Katelin exclaimed.

Along with her long term efforts for striving to be the best she could, Katelin’s hard work and dedication have paid off. Quinones broke the record for most assists in a single season of soccer.

Occasionally some tensions occur on the field if the players aren’t supposed to be doing what they’re doing, but Katelin says that they overcome these issues without causing conflicts.

“Rather than yelling and screaming, we try to give them positive feedback to help improve their game and help the team as a whole.”

Despite this, the girls cooperation and teamwork has proved very effective in their recent games of the season, with a total of 15 wins.

“We work very well together; everyone contributes something different and important to the team, which makes us extremely successful! ”

“We work very well together; everyone contributes something different and important to the team, which makes us extremely successful!”  Katelin said.

Initially Katelin wanted to play soccer in college but she changed her plans to best fit her future. She decided to focus on her academics and nursing, as she expects those pursuits to be tough and demanding. However, Katelin has said how she has loved playing soccer all her life and is excited to continue on into senior year.
