Winter track at EHS just started for ninth through twelfth graders and is giving everyone chills. Language Arts teacher Trevor Hedges is the coach. The athletes work out in the weight room, run outdoors and compete in meets.

Hedges has been coaching winter track for six years and has always been interested in doing exciting things. He has participated in track since he was in high school and was always the fastest on his team. He then started doing events in between running such as pole vaulting, hurdles and long-jumping.

“I couldn’t believe I actually liked coaching it!¨ said Hedges.

Mr. Hedges is also coach for the spring track season, and he’s preparing his athletes by making them run in the snow to get stronger legs, and do wind sprints to build up stamina and endurance.

“We do everything that we can to improve ourselves physically,” Hedges stated.

Coach Hedges is very excited to see all of his athletes, especially his seniors, succeed and maybe even go to the state championships. “I’m really excited for the seniors – some of them are definitely going to become state champions this year. I’m pumped about that, and I’m really excited for the state sectional tournament because we are going to see some really big wins and possible school records,” Hedges said enthusiastically.
