This year’s American Music Awards, hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, showcased many spectacular performances. The focus of the show was on recognizing women’s actions, accomplishments and importance.

The opening act was none other than Pink, talked about mostly because of her performance which took place on the side of the 21-floor JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Regardless of the mixed opinion of her performance, it surely will go down in history as a sight to remember.

Christina Aguilera, an iconic singer, songwriter and television personality, delivered a tribute to Whitney Houston. She performed a medley of “I Will Always Love You,” “Run To You,” “I Have Nothing,” and “I’m Every Woman.” Christina had a rough start, including various flat notes, but redeemed herself and came out strong towards the end of her performance.

Selena Gomez made her first live television performance of 2017 in which she sang her new song “Wolves.”  The stage was transformed into a forest and centered around Selena, dressed in a white slip dress. Besides her stunning features and grace, her voice did not fail to leave the audience in awe.

The show began and ended with a tribute to Diana Ross, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. She was honored for her out-of-this-world talent as a singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. Alongside her family, who joined her on stage, she gave a stellar performance of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” as the finale of the show.

It was a perfect ending to a show that was both entertaining and relevant.
