This year, Emerson Jr-Sr High School welcomes a new robotics team, the “RoboCavos.”

Under the leadership of coaches Mr. Schama and Mr. Lee, the team is working to develop a robot which they can take to First Tech Challenge (FTC) competitions. The team is comprised of builders who create the actual robot, as well as programmers, who take care of the controls for the robot and allow it to work independently.

“The season has been going much better than we expected,” said programmer Matthew De La Paz. “We came in second place twice.”

The team has participated in two tournaments so far, placing second in both. Strong teamwork and many skilled teammates are among several reasons for their continued success.

The team is only warming up; currently they are in the process of rebuilding their robot in preparation for an upcoming tournament in January.
